Food has a significant place in the day to day routine of our lives. Whether we make time to eat with our families, or grab a piece of fruit as we hurry on to something else, food, properly chosen and prepared, andalong with our attitude towards it, has the extraordinary power to unite us with others and nuture our relationship with all of creation and with the Divine.
As a mother of seven children, a chaplain and counselor, health coach, and an avid bicyclist, swimmer, and yogini, I have been a lifelong learner about nutrition and eating well. I have been a vegetarian since 1994. Along the way I have tried many diets with mediocre and questionable success. All of that changed in 2006, when I was introduced to the raw food diet and Alissa Cohen's book Living on Live Food. Since then I have been very high raw eater. I effortlessly lost 37 lbs. early on, gained energy, lost the need for as much sleep, biked and swam more strongly, became more flexible, and lowered my blood pressure enough to no longer need medication for it. A strong motivational voice for the raw and living food diet, I sponsor a monthly raw food potluck and have been featured in several local newspaper articles.
In April, 2010 I became an Alissa Cohen Certified Live Food Chef, Instructor, and Teacher, and completed a 12 hour training at her Grezzo Raw Food Restaurant in Boston. I now offer classes in food preparation and consultation. Contact me for availability, and do attend one of our monthly potlucks. I am currently enrolled in the Health Coach Training Program with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition For more information see http://janesmith-healthcoaching.com and/or
